Week6 Prompt

Week 6
Reflect on what you have learned in the class and how you will use it professionally as both a lifelong learner and an instructional systems professional (or whatever field you’re in).

It's time to say goodbye with posting Week6 prompt.
I am so sad.

Web2.0 class have provided me with a well-organized guideline for getting into Web2.0 world. For me, the literally meaning of Web2.0 was unclear at the beginning of the semester. From this class, I have learned what Web2.0 is, how I can use it, why I use it, and so forth.

However, I sometimes feel that there are too many tools. I cannot maintain all of them continuously. I should find a couple of major tools for my a lifelong learning.
Scoop.it! is one of them. I love its huge database. It is especially useful for my professional development. Unfortunately, many other tools might die in my web2.0 list. I am so selective..

For beginners in Web2.0 field, finding appropriate tools is important.
They might be distracted due to a lot of tools.
I realized that it is really necessary for beginners to be provided with well-designed guidelines. In this vein, the Web2.0 class is awesome.

In terms of my professional development, Web2.0 would become a good friend.
Useful knowledge already exists in Web2.0 world.
What I need to do is to meet the world and participate in.
Now I am a beginner, peripheral, passive.. but I will keep trying to get into inside the world.
In the future, I will be an effective insider in my professional field as well as a leading person in the Web2.0 world!!!

"Sharing is a wonderful thing"

"Sharing is a wonderful thing"
This wonderful sentence is from Vanessa in her last VoiceThreads.
I love the meaning.

In the past, I did not know why sharing is important.
I thought that sharing does not provide any rewards.
People who are active sharing spend their time, but they have no rewards.
Thus I was a little bit negative on sharing.

However, during this class, I realize that many people have contributed to Web2.0 world with their enthusiastic passions to sharing. I really respect to all web2.0 people. They have made this wonderful world. Web2.0 class have changed my behaviors and thoughts about sharing.

I take advantages of sharing from others.
So I have to do sharing. I am responsible for sharing something.
That is an interaction. That is the power of our modern society.

Week6 Learnist vs. Scoop.it!

I might be wrong, but I think that Learnist and Scoop.it are really really similar to each other.

1. Main page
Scoop.it's main page shows feeds I am following

Learnist's main page shows feeds I am following

2. Quantity of contents
 "Topic"page shows "165" related pages.

But, Learnist shows "10" related pages.

When I search "mobile learning" as a keyword, I can see that the quantity of the results are different.
Definitely Scoop.it has larger database.

3. Why Scoop.it is better than Learnist.
Obviously, I can say that Scoop.it is better than Learnist.
Scoop.it provides "Users" page when you enter any keywords.
This is awesome. You can find people who have same interests as you!!
This feature is really really helpful for you to establish your personal learning network.

Week6. How can we manage our social media-based websites ?

During the WEB 2.0 class, I have got a lot of web 2.0 tools.
I have all signed up those tools.

Now I remember a few names of them. That means that I totally forgot or do not use some tools.
Do you guys remember those web 2.0 tools all?

One of the most important thing about Web2.0 world is to keep using them.
I cannot manage and keep using them all. What's the problem?

Although emailing occasionally give me notifications,
I feel that there are too much to keep tracking all tools where I have signed up.

Yes, I do not need to manage all web2.0 tools.
I am more active on web2.0 than before, but I am worried.
After finishing this class, I might be likely to become passive again.

We have known a lot of web 2.0 tools for formal/informal learning.
How much frequently do you guys use them after this class?
They are rapidly changing and evolving.
We need to keep following the trends.

What I need to do now is to come up with a method to manage web2.0 tools for my world.
Can I become an enthusiast on web2.0 after the end of the class?

Week 5 Prompt

Week 5
How do you judge the value of expertise on the Web? Does it differ from your notion of expertise in face-to-face settings? Why or why not?

The value of expertise on the Web is definitely differ from other type of expertise.
For expertise on the Web, there are more requirements exist.

First, they need to be more sensitive to tech trends, specifically on the Web.
Trends of the Web is so fast.
Expertise on the Web can recognize the rapid change, and can actively follow the need.
In contrast, expertise in face-to-face setting, they tend to be less sensitive to tech trends.

Second, it is necessary for expertise on the Web to communicate with others very actively.
Today web communication is not static. Rather, it is inter-mutual.
They should know that their role is to contribute to the Web by participating and communicating actively.

Third, they should be professionals to analyze the Web. This means that they need to know how to analyze the Web. It requires the Web expertise to be skilled in many areas including the web area and others fields. For example, Web expertise need to know how to analyze the web activities among users, as well as, how to interpret them by strong theoretical backgrounds such as communication, ethnography, and so forth.

The Web expertise need to be professionals in various areas.
The feature is definitely distinguishable from face-to-face expertise.

I have started with a new blog!!!

The most distinctive thing that I can feel myself during this class is that my Internet behavior has been changed.

I have been believing myself I am "Techy". But that does not mean that I am good at "Web 2.0".

At the beginning of the class, all new Web 2.0 technologies I have faced were wonderful, interesting, attractive...
However, in this Week5, I am a little bit frustrated and depressed.
Why?
There are many many many Web 2.0 based websites I have never heard and seen.
Why am I out-dated?

I can introduce myself "I am a docs students in the Instructional Systems, yes, I am a kind of EXPERT in Educational Technology".
Can I say like that?? The answer is "Definitely NOT."

Web 2.0 Class have provided me with tons of wonderful technologies.
But I can feel that there are too much burden.
I can say that I cannot use all of Web2.0 technologies I have learned during this class in the future.
However, I can feel that my Internet behavior is little bit changed.

I was definitely a "consumer" in the Internet world.
But I realized that I can be a "produser" in this scene.
To be a good produser, there is a serious limitation to me.
That is a language barrier.
I am an International student. It is not easy to express my words in English.

However, I found an alternative way.
I am guessing that those many Web2.0 tools have not usually been introduced in Korea.
Thus, I made a decision to make a blog.
The topic is "Web 2.0 and Educational Technology"

Here is the thing. This blog incorporates my class blog and my own personal website, too.
Through this blog, I want to share ideas with Korean, who are interested in Web2.0 in Education contexts.
I expect that the visitors in my blog might be undergrads and/or grads who are majoring in education, communication, etc.
I will introduce many Web2.0 tools to them through my new blog.

Is this a good idea?

Week5: Learnist

We have to know Learnist. Please take a look at the video first.

Learnist is a social media tool regarding any learning topics.
It allows users to not only search topics they are interested in, but also create their own topics they are interested in.

There are THREE types of buttons when you click 'ADD'.
First, 'board' is a kind of 'topic' or 'categories' or 'page' you are going to make.
Then you add 'links' or 'images' as the contents into the 'board'.
It is obvious that Learnist is helpful for establishing personal learning networks or informal learning.

I believe that Produsage 2 and PLN can adapt Learnist as a major tool.

This is Dr.Dennen's Learnist page. She created 'board' named as 'Creating a Personal Learning Network'.
Then she added several links and videos into the board.

I thought that a blog would be used as my major tool for PLN,
but I realized that there are many cool tools in a sense of Web 2.0

Whenever I discover many Web 2.0 tools, I am frustrated because I feel that I am out-dated.
I have believe that I am kinda techy, but I can't say like that now.

I am definitely out of dated about Web2.0 world.

Week5: Storify

If you want to explore Storify, please watch this short video.

I can say that Storify is a tool for making stories based on data from many social media tools.
You can write any stories you are interested in.
But one limitation is that you can get resources only from social media.

This is a main screen in Storify.
It allows me to sign in with my Facebook account.
Many other social media based tools have the same way to sign in. It's very convenient. :)

Just click Create.
I choose Public. I am not a writer. I s*ck at writing. But I click 'Create a Public Story'.
Just read!! everyone!!!

Gee. I have no topic. But I am a kind of beat-boxer. Can you imagine?
Actually I can do beat-box. Anyway, find 'human beatbox' in the search bar.
Youtube may show a good result.

Ha, here is the thing. The second video is one I frequently have seen.
The big guy is famous.
I wanted to write some story or narrative. It was failed.
Instead, I searched some images. Here is a good one.
The guy is handsome.

Let's finish. I'm done because it is a just test.
Click Publish!!!

*Storify is cool. It is attractive to people who enjoy writing. All resources for writing exist in social media world. You just enter any keywords who want to find. Drag it. Make the story.
Then SHARE!!!!

Week4: Prompt

Week 4
How do issues such as authorship, copyright and open access impact your desire, ability and willingness to engage in produsage, both personally and professionally?

Personally,
I am a produser in many areas.
First, in mobile app development, I became a produser from a consumer.
I am actually still a beginner level, but I can be a "producer" for real novices.
Yes, I will make simple lessons about mobile app development, in particular, really really beginner level. In this case, I never consider any authorship or copyrights about what I produced.
Everybody can use my works. That is because that I have used others work for free.
I have to contribute to this area as a producer.
In this sense, I don't think that my creatures are unique because they are not professional.
I am a low-level "producer" for super beginners.

However, I am very strict in professional.
Professionally, I am engaged in academic research.
Sometimes I feel that my new ideas should be protected before its publications.
Of course, I can open the new ideas with close colleagues, such as my advisor and some close friends.
But I don't want to open my new ideas to a public space, such as my blog or SNS.
That results in I never talk about my research ideas in public on Internet.
In this sense, I am a 'consumer' until I officially do publish the idea to my academic field.
Am I conservative??
But I don't mind to share my ideas with close friends.
I meant that I don't want to open them in public.

Week4: CiteULike

CiteULike is a kind of reference manage tool.

I can say that I am never going to use this.
I have used a couple use tools for managing references, such as EndNote and Refworks.
From my past experience, I realize that simplicity is the best in terms of managing my own reference.

For me, EndNote is the best choice. I have a license of EndNote, too.
I purchased EndNote X6, and EndNote mobile app for my iPad, too.

Who is going to use CiteULike???
I am really really really skeptical.

Week4: Slideshare.net

In fact, I've heard about Slideshare.net so far. However it was the first time to visit the website. :)
At a glance, Slideshare.net is very similar to 'VoiceThread'.
But, Slideshare is definitely more advanced one.

I wondered because of its distinctive features that show popular slides associated with other web2.0 sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn.
In the screenshots above, I can see 'Latest Conference, 'Hot on Twitter', 'Hot on Facebook', and 'Hot on LinkedIn'. There are super cool!!!

Now I have few experiences to show any presentations.
But I want to be a enthusiastic produser in Slideshare.net !!

I can feel that web2.0 world is too wide to experience everything.
Also, I can feel that my behavior is not perfectly adapted to web2.0 world.
I am a little bit laze to share and manage my properties in a sense of web2.0.

I want to change my behavior to more adaptive to web2.0.
However, I can feel that Language barrier is so high.

Week4: Scribd

At first, I thought that Scribd is basically similar to Goodreads or LibraryThing.
However, Scribd is quiet different from them.

Scribd is not a thing that users review the books.
Rather, users can read books for free. However, the number of books is limited.
The open books to read are from users. Users upload their books to share, then other can read for free.
Thus, we can find a limited number of books in Scribd.

I am skeptical to the future of Scribd.
Definitely, Scribd's database highly depends on users.
I believe that there are less people who want to be a uploader..
Am I too skeptical?

Week4: Academia.edu

Saturday morning, I've started with Academia.edu.
Frankly, this week is so painful to me due to a lot of things to do.
Yes, the final week is coming. During weekdays I have focused on other classes.
Thus I am sorry for my adorable Web2.0 class!

I signed up Academia.edu.
It seems like LinkedIn, but specifically focuses on sharing publications.
LinkedIn is more focusing on 'career', whereas Academia is for sharing papers.
When I signed up, I was asked to upload any paper I've written.
Unfortunately, I have no published papers. It motivates me a lot.

I swear I will make my Academia with a couple of published paper within 3 years!
I found a couple of FSU friends, but it seems that they are less using Academia than LinkedIn.
Is it tedious to manage Academia page?

And.. I believe that Acamedia become a useful entrance to show my own work to others for any job-searching purposes..

Week3 Prompt

Week 3
What uses might a collaborative wiki or blog have in your chosen (current or desired) work environment? How would they support learning and/or performance? What would be the design and implementation challenges if management tried to do this? What would be the design and implementation challenges of a user-initiated effort?

Many students have mentioned that Web2.0 technologies might be used as a research topic. Yes, it is definitely true.
However, I would like to use wiki or blog as a communication tool for my research team. Currently I am involved in a couple of research teams. I always feel that it is necessary for my team to have a specific online space (or archive). My team have a shared cloud folder, such as Google drive or Dropbox, but it is not enough. Something more needed.

Wiki, blog, or whatever, Web2.0 tool might be helpful for this purpose. Specifically I want to Google+ community. Blogger.com is good, but in my purpose, Google community is better. I think that my team may need a discussion board, a space to gather useful links or resources, a chat tool, and so forth. First, a page in Google community is really simple and useful. I can share any useful information with my teammates. Other member can leave comments. Second, Google Hangout is wonderful. Due to the time preferences, it is not easy for all team members to get together in person. So Google Hangout can be an alternative.

One thing I need to consider is that one person should be a manager or leader in the community. He/she need to facilitate the teamwork! I would be possibly a manager in the community.

All this procedure might be applied to Wiki's setting. But I prefer Google community to Wiki because of its various functions. In addition, I think that it is a good idea to have my own space to collect useful information in Google community. Let's try !

Week3: Foursquare, a very playable application!!

Foursquare,
This is an application to share "locations" we have visited.
We can rate the places.

I downloaded Foursquare to my iPhone from Apple Appstore.
I was surprised since the super high rating score.
Anyway, I launched the downloaded app.

Its interface is so intuitive.
It was not hard to get familiar with how I can use this app. It's so simple.
What I was surprised again is that there are a couple of my friends who are using Foursquare!!
I am an outdated person!!!! OMG!!!

I am living in McCollum Hall. Interestingly, some people left comments on McCollum page!!
That's funny!

In addition, I found him!! Andrew!!
Actually, he is not my friend. But I know him. He was a tutor in Reading-Writing Center.
I have got English revision service from him. That's surprising !!

Week3: PATH. a really similar thing to Facebook

Hey guys, have you tried to do with Path?

Look at this 1 mins video.
But the explanation of the video is not perfect.

I signed up and downloaded Path to my iPad and iPhone.
This is a main feed of my Path.
The activated pop-up window with a couple of emoticons is like a 'Like' button of Facebook.
I can tell you that Path is really really really similar to Facebook.

So many functions from Facebook are embedded in Path, too.
You can easily understand what I am saying if you try to do Path.

Now I have no friends in my Path.
So I was trying to invite all my friends.. to my Path, but I gave up.
Probably my friends dislike my invitations.
Can you see the chair's name of my department? I couldn't click the 'invite' button.

I am wondering who wants to use Path?
Path is really really really similar to Facebook.
Facebook is predominant.
Is Path going to die?

Week3: Tappestry, Hey Guys! Don't miss this cool society !!!

Hello guys,
I strongly suggest you experience this cool learning society.
Tappestry, a simple social network specifically for learning topic.
Take a look at the overview video, it takes 3 minutes.

I download Tappestry on my iPhone and iPad, then try to do something.
That's so funny. But I can see there are few people using Tappestry.

This screenshot is the overview page of Tappestry.
There are simple messages. It's easy to read.
I touched the Nearby button, but nobody is nearby here !!!!

And one thing I love is this interface design. Can you see?
It looks like a kind of famous quote !!!
That's so funny!!

Week3 Tech1: Google+

I knew Google+, but rarely used it.

The first impression of Google+ was that it is almost like Facebook.
Yes, Google+ has a lot of similar features what FB has.

But, one thing that little bit different from FB is Communities.
Google+ communities are more activated than FB's community.
I found 'iOS Developers', which is 138 membered big community.

In addition, the most distinctive feature of Google+ is a kind of link system with Blogger.com, Youtube.com, etc.
Yes those websites are associated into Google+ together. It's really impressive.

Another feature I love is Google Hangout.
I never knew this wonderful technology.
Google Hangout combines many functions, such as chat, sharing screens, etc.
I've been using Webex when I need to share my screen with others.
But I realized that I can use Google Hangout instead of Webex.
Gorgeous. Wonderful.

But I realize that relatively few people use Google+ compared to Facebook.
But, I expect that Google+ is next thing prevelent after Facebook.

Week2 Prompt

Week 2
How might the concept of produsage be applied in your life (personal and/or professional) as it stands today? Are you already a produser? If yes, what do you do? If no, why not?

The term Produsage refers to Produce + Usage in collaborative knowledge context.
Well, it is not easy to say that I am a kind of producer in a certain area.
Although I am a heavy user in social media, I am just a consumer, I think.

But,
In my retrospect, I was a kind of producer in two area.
First, when I was a middle school kid, I made a personal website about an online game.
Yes, I was an online game user as well as a game fan page master.
The screenshot shows an online game 'Legend of Darkness' I played.
My fan page was enrolled in Yahoo search, so a lot of gamers visited my fan page.
I remember that the total visitors in my fan page was approximately 100,000.
At that time, I used Dreamweaver to develop my webpage.
My fan page had various contents including discussion boards.

Second,I wanted to be an amateur Hiphop musician.
So I signed up Millim.com (Now its service is not available)
But I found its old screenshot.
Millim.com was a kind of user-led music creation & sharing website.
I used my nickname 'Lyricist'. and I uploaded my self-made music to Millim.com
Millim users can listen to my music, and I can listen to other's music.
Some famous Millim users became real major musician in Korean Hiphop now.
(Yes! I am a big fan of Korean Hiphop for 16years!)

Unfortunately, those two things mentioned above are now unavailable.
Currently, I am definitely a consumer in all Internet areas.
Why? I think that I am currently passive.

Actually I want to be a producer in my personal as well as professional areas.
However, I have no energy to be a producer.. now I am satisfied being a consumer.
How can I be a producer?
The answer will be making a personal learning network, and then collecting, sharing, re-generating something..

Exploring Edmodo.com

Today, I've been exploring Edmodo.com
Edmodo is a kind of Learning Management System website.
The first screenshot is a home feed page in which users can see posts overall.
It looks like a Facebook group page.
One feature I would like to point out is 'Planner' from the second screenshot.
Students can create events and tasks.

Edmodo is very intuitive, helpful, and easy.
But Edmodo is a light tool.
It means that its functions are very limited compared to other LMS such as Blackboard.

Web 2.0 sites in Korea: Why they are failed in Korea

Today, I'd like to talk about Web 2.0 sites in Korea.

I found a lot of news article about this issue: Why Web2.0 sites are failed in Korea.
The articles are mainly published in 2006-2008.
This means that Web2.0 was a hottest topic in 2006, and many Web2.0 technologies were trying to expand their service to Korea. But they were failed.

Why?
The answer is a monopolization of a certain website: Naver.com
According to Wikipedia, "Naver (Hangul: 네이버) is a popular search portal in South Korea, which holds a market share of over 70% at least since 2011,[1] continuing to 2013."

In other word, everything users want exists in Naver.com.
Users don't need to get any other Web2.0 sites.
Also Naver provides a blog service for its users.
For Korean, other blog services, such as Blogger, Wordpress, etc., are unnecessary, because they have Naver blog

Yahoo.com stopped its service in Korea in 2013. As a result, Flickr stopped, too.

Do you know another story about Youtube.com in Korea?
Korea Internet policy required users to enter their social ID numbers when they sign up any websites.
Because of this reason, Youtube.com prohibited Korean until 2012.
In 2012, Korea Internet policy changed, and never require any social numbers.

Why was Korean Internet policy changed in 2012?
In 2011, another popular search portal, Nate.com, was hacked by Chinese hackers.
35,000,000 users information including social numbers, address, cellphone numbers, etc., were stolen.
In other word, 70% of all Korea population information was stolen by Chinese hackers.
Yes, my social information is being used by others probably.

Anyway, in conclusion,

Web2.0 is losing their power in Korea due to a domestic site, Naver.com.

Week2's Tech2: Flickr!! Do you like photographs? Join in Flickr !!

Today (Tuesday) is Flickr day!

I signed up Flickr.
One thing I was surprised is that Flickr is served by Yahoo.com.
Now I rarely use Yahoo.com. I totally forgot the portal site that was prevalent a decade ago.

I bought my first DSLR camera in 2007, Canon EOS 350D.
Yes, I was really addicted in photographs, so I joined in a photograph hobby group.
My hobby 'was' photographs.
I still have some wonderful pictures I took in 2007-2009 when I tripped in Australia and Europe.

Flickr provides users with some good functions such as Gallery, Community, etc.
The screenshot above is a community page when I searched 'Florida State University'.
This community page can be a good resource for one of our assignments 'Community observation paper'.
However, most of communities I have found are not active.
I think that most Flickr users do Flickr as a personal use.

I was trying to search some Korean communities in Flickr, but there are few.
I found a news article about Flickr in Korea.
Flickr began to service in Korea in 2006. That's surprising. pretty early.
However, Flickr stopped its service in Korea in January 2013.
That is the reason why there are few Korean users in Flickr.

Monday, July 1, 2013

Week2's Tech1: Getting familiar with Youtube.com !!

We probably think of Youtube.com as only a site to see some videos.
Yes, I am not a video uploader.
I am definitely a consumer in Youtube.com world.
Youtube.com provides me with a good management system to track a tendency of my playlist.
Also Youtube.com is associated with Google.com,
so it is very easy to manage your personal activity log with your google account in Youtube.com

Previously, I posted about a subscription function of Youtube.com
The function enables me to keep some important videos in a certain space in which I can see again later.

The best feature of Youtube.com I think is the 'Watch History' page.
The history page keeps previous videos I have watched.
Currently, I have been watching many videos regarding iOS development in Youtube.com.
Fortunately, this page saves my video playlist.
Yes, some videos need to be kept to see later again.
You don't need to search again unnecessarily.

Group action power, positive? Negative?

Group action, positive or negative...

The lost phone story from Shirky's book was very impressive.
The story showed a power of group action in social network.

I know a couple of similar stories that happened in Korea.
Such stories were recognized as problematic social issues.

Here is the story.
A woman guest in a Korean TV program mentioned,
"All men who are shorter than 180cm are losers."
I still remember what happened at that night in the Internet.
Every men Internet users got into rage. I was, too. My height is 176cm.
At that night, many Internet communities focused on who she was.

Unfortunately, Korea is too small, and smaller than FL.
It was too easy to find her everything.
She was a university student in Korea.
Many Internet users found her name, her school, her address, what she have done before, and share the information all about her with many Internet communities.
Some Internet users, who go to the same university with her, share some stories about her with others.
She was branded as all men's enemy.

I remember that the story happended a couple of years ago.
But still most of Korean Interent users never forget her.
She branded most of Korean men as 'losers'.
And most Korean men branded her as 'enemy of men'.

Very fortunately,
I found a English article about the story in Korean Herald.
If you are interested in the story, please read this link.

http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20091113000032

A college student is in hot water as her "short men are losers" statement on a local television show is spreading all over the internet community.
Lee Do-kyung, a Hongik University student, appeared on a popular KBS TV show "Misuda," or "Chatting with Beauties" on Monday and said, "I don`t like short men. Height is competitiveness these days, and I think short men are losers. Men should at least be 180 cm tall."
Hurt and angry, Korean internet users began to criticize her online immediately, and decided to take another step: "googling" her.
Before noon the next day, all her personal information including her homepage address, graduation photos, and her frequently used internet ID were posted on numerous websites.

Internet users tracked down the trails of her internet ID. Her past activities online such as the questions she posted on her university`s website about scholarships, the ones she posted on luxury brand shopping websites and plastic surgery websites were all quickly disclosed.
Internet users made a caricature of her words by creating parodied photos. For instance, "Who is Lee Do-kyung?" is written on top of a poster of the movie "The Lord of the Rings" where hobbits pose holding swords, and also on top of a portrait of Napoleon.
Some even wrote that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, who happens to be short, got furious about Lee`s "loser" statement and ordered Tuesdays` naval clash between the two Koreas.
New words appeared as well, such as "Tom Closer," "Loserleon," or "Wayne Loser," each referring to Tom Cruise, Napoleon and Wayne Rooney, celebrities or historical figures who are shorter than 180 cm.
language="JavaScript"src="/khjs/banner/article_340.js">
Later on the same day, Lee`s every action started to be broadcast live over the internet. Students at her university seemed to be keeping a close eye on her as websites were flooded with anonymous eye witness accounts on Lee. Anonymous rumors about her and even comments about the situation from some self-claimed friends of hers quickly spread online.
As the situation seemed to be getting serious, some internet users started reflecting on their own behavior, saying that they do not have the right to do surveillance on other people, and that they should stop.
"Internet users themselves are feeling burdened as the situation becomes uncontrollable," said Jeong Hyun-min, a researcher at the National Information Society Agency.
Meanwhile, a weird consequence of her comments is that some celebrities were suddenly praised on the internet for their past comments about men`s height. Attention is especially focused on Hyun-ah, a member of the girl group "Four Minute," whose recent appearance on a radio show where she talked about her ideal boyfriend is spreading online.
"I hope he is shorter than 173 cm. About 170 cm would be great," she said.

Subscribtion in YOUTUBE.COM

Today I would like to tell you about Youtube.com, specifically 'subscribe'.

I thought that Youtube.com is just a website for finding and watching some videos I want to see.
Yes, I was totally a consumer in Youtube.com, and I am still.
However, these days, I use a function 'subscribe' in Youtube.com

Here is my story.
Recently, I study 'mobile application development' by myself.
I bought a big book about iOS development.
Or sometimes I watch video lectures from iTunes.
The lectures were for distance students, so it was really hard to find stuffs that I really want to see.
Thus, I was trying to find videos that I really want to see in Youtube.com.
When I enter a keyword 'Xcode tutorial' in a search bar, many video lists came out.
(*Xcode is an application development software for iOS).
The long video list made me confused. Some videos have good qualities, whereas others are bad.
I needed a kind of well-organized tutorial videos.

I was trying to find some user who periodically upload good videos.
As a result, I found one.

This is a screenshot that captured my Youtube.com account's page.
I am a subscriber of 'Rodsitvideo'.
He is an old guy, but he is so enthusiastic. His videos were well-organized.
Every video's running time is not long, so it makes me comfortable to watch each video.
He designed his video tutorial in small units for beginner developers.
I love his learning design.

If you start to learn something my yourself, it is helpful to find someone who has well-designed video lists for your need. Subscribe them!

Twitter: Why I do not use Twitter..

I remember that Twitter was introduced in Korea around 2010. (actually I am not sure)
My first smartphone was iPhone 3GS in 2010, so I was trying to use Twitter on my phone.
However, I gave up using it because Twitter was kind of difficult for me.
Difficulty of use was not a major reason.
The major reason was that my friends were rarely interested in any social networks.
Interestingly, most of my best friends do not use Facebook. (They are 28 years old)
Again, I gave up using Twitter because I have no friends who use Twitter.
In other word, I need someone who follows me.
I want to show what I am saying to others. I want to interact with others (specifically with friends)
If nobody follows me, my words are like trashes.
Unfortunately, my Korean friends never use Twitter.
They are kind of outsiders in social network world..

Week1 Prompt

I can say that I am in intermediate level in using social media.

I am from Korea, and I remember that I had been using a kind of social network 'Damoim' since my middle school.
Damoim is like a MySpace. I used to find a girl's Damoim account who I am interested in. Then, 'CyWorld', which is a new generation of Korean version of MySpace, was getting popular, I had been using CyWorld from 2004-2009.
Then, Facebook was getting popular in Korea, probably from 2009, and I started to use Facebook. Now I am an active user of Facebook. I believe that Facebook is a great tool to interact with my American friends for me.
 <Damoim>
*Damoim means "meeting altogether" in Korean meaning

<Cyworld>
*Cyworld means "relationship world" in Korean meaning

In addition, I used to do my blog. My blog topic was Hiphop Music. I wrote semi-professional columns about Korean Hiphop scene. Then, some people who are interested in the topic found my blog via searching, so I made some online friends who I never met F2F. But I no longer use my blog.

Now I am not sure specifically what kinds of technologies are involved in Web 2.0 category. However, I think I am definitely an intermediate level user in Web 2.0. Also, I am not a leader. I think that I am a follower or consumer. I do not use Twitter, Flicker, Blog, etc. In terms of Facebook, I prefer seeing friends' status to writing my status.

I hope that Web2.0 class will cover various Web2.0 technologies as many as possible. I am ready to get into the Web2.0 world! I am still feeling that I am a kind of outsider in whole Web2.0 world although I use Facebook.

First post: Welcome to Taehyeong's blog

Hello everyone!

I am Taehyeong Lim, and this is my blog which is made for Web 2.0 class.

You guys are probably curious about the title, "Lyricistation.com", so let me explain.
When I dreamed to be a musician in my middle school, I used to compose music or write lyrics.
So "Lyricist" became my nickname in an amateur Korean Hiphop scene.
Frankly speaking, I was an amateur musician in Korean Hiphop scene.

Lyricistation is a compound word between Lyricist and Station.
Station refers to a kind of archive which stores my stuffs about anythings.
Actually, I have my own homepage which is titled as Lyricistation.com,
you may probably find Lyricistation.com.
