Week3 Tech1: Google+

I knew Google+, but rarely used it.

The first impression of Google+ was that it is almost like Facebook.
Yes, Google+ has a lot of similar features what FB has.

But, one thing that little bit different from FB is Communities.
Google+ communities are more activated than FB's community.
I found 'iOS Developers', which is 138 membered big community.

In addition, the most distinctive feature of Google+ is a kind of link system with Blogger.com, Youtube.com, etc.
Yes those websites are associated into Google+ together. It's really impressive.

Another feature I love is Google Hangout.
I never knew this wonderful technology.
Google Hangout combines many functions, such as chat, sharing screens, etc.
I've been using Webex when I need to share my screen with others.
But I realized that I can use Google Hangout instead of Webex.
Gorgeous. Wonderful.

But I realize that relatively few people use Google+ compared to Facebook.
But, I expect that Google+ is next thing prevelent after Facebook.

  1. G+ is really in an odd zone of sorts. It came out 2 years ago amid great fanfare, but didn't really give Facebook a run for its money. Apparently it now has pockets of users (I'm not a big user, so who knows; maybe I'll become a bigger user this summer), but it still hasn't attracted the masses of social users like Facebook.

    1. I am also curious about why G+ hasn't attracted people compared to FB.
Probably it might be just a fortune to FB. It depends on trends..

  2. I joined Google+ when it came out, but that's just about all I've done with it. I think I haven't really moved over to it because all of my social media friends are on Facebook. The only people I know who use Google+, were those introduced through their classes. I know my friends on Facebook have been complaining of "privacy issues" especially with the new graph feature (I'm not sure what that is yet) and threatening to leave FB, maybe this will lead them in G+'s way?

    1. I think that people tend to use only one major social network tool.
      We've seen a case of MySpace.com.
I anticipate that FB users will leave in the future in order to find a new site.
Can G+ be the next big thing? :)

  3. I'm looking forward to our Google Hangout session. It will motivate me to play around with it more. I have been very reluctant to try Google+. I've been on it for at least a year, but I haven't tried it out much. I'm not sure why. Maybe because very few of my friends have joined. Facebook and Twitter still reigns supreme it seems. I wonder how long it will stay under the radar by the majority of social media users.

    1. Yes. I wonder, too.
MySpace.com was having its majority for a couple of years.
      But it died.
We can say, Historic Recurrence !!
